From UNC Global News - A really excellent article about the Nourish project in partnership with FCB and the Institute for the Study of Americas in El Gusano, Mexico this past summer. Despite some setbacks because of swine flu and pulled funding, 3 students were still able to do excellent work! You can find the story here: http://global.unc.edu/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1155&Itemid=94 |

Nourish News from the Summer |

Although we are away from campus for the summer, NI activities have hardly taken a break. We currently have three projects in Honduras, Peru, and India. Unfortunately, our Mexico and Madagascar projects had to be canceled due to University policy on the swine flu and an unstable political situation. Keep up with the project blogs as our students document their experiences (can be found on the left side menu or here. The coup in Honduras has not affected our project and everyone is safe - so no need to worry, but we are assuredly monitoring the situation. Other than projects, a Project Presentation Night for Nourish projects implemented by the UNC, Duke, and NC State chapters is in the works for the fall and will likely be held September 10th from 6-8pm in the Campus Y Lounge. We also have a spiffy new website - thanks to Brian Payst in the Division of Student Affairs for his help. One notable new feature is the HungerLunch Twitter Feed (located on the left menu). Every Wednesday we will post the status of Hunger Lunch and where it is if not in The Pit. Bear with us as we add more to the website! Other than that, we are mainly excited for a new year and new people in our organization. Come visit us at Fall Fest and more information on meeting times/places to come. Enjoy the rest of the summer! |
